What a momentous occasion it was at the University of Bolton Stadium for our last league home game - as long as you discount the result that is!! The Supporters' Trust was delighted to present a commemorative trophy to Barbara and her family in recognition of all her husband, the late, great Dave “Ding Dong Do” Higson did for Bolton Wanderers. Dave's devotion to the Wanderers was unparalleled and he worked tirelessly to support the club in so many ways. He was adored by our fans and we thought it only fitting that we showed our appreciation by remembering his huge contribution with this award.
Earlier in the day Barbara and the family had been invited to officially open the new Fanzone Bar named in Dave's honour and following that, they were entertained by Sharon Brittan in the Chairman's Suite. As the club has changed immeasurably and moved forward into a new era over the last three years, it is to their credit that the Board has honoured our past by immortalising the great man and ensuring that a big part of Wanderers' folklore lives on.
Also last Saturday, there was a milestone birthday to celebrate as the legend that is Jack Dearden celebrated his 70th year in the Reflections Suite. Jack is a great friend of the Supporters' Trust and has been a huge support to us since that very first meeting in the Premier Suite in 2016. Jack is synonymous with Bolton Wanderers and his commentary for BBC Radio Manchester has provided many years of excellent coverage of our games. His unmistakable voice has been the soundtrack for many iconic moments in our history and he has been with the fans every step of the way through both the highs and the lows. Happy birthday Jack. We salute you!
