BWFCST are pleased to announce Bolton Wanderers Community Trust (BWCT) as our second major partners in moving forwards with establishing the Trust as an active voice for the BWFC fans.
Most supporters are aware of BWCT (www.bwct.org.uk), formally Football in the Community, but maybe are not fully aware of the great work that it is doing within the football club and the wider Bolton community.
BWCT Work In The Community
BWCT is a registered charity limited by guarantee and finances its great work done in the community by sourcing grant funding, donations and corporate sponsors, together with organising various fundraising events.
This year they celebrate 30 years of working in the heart of the Bolton community as they work in partnership with other organisations to narrow the gap of disadvantage across the borough.
Currently BWCT are operating 33 programmes in the most disadvantaged areas of the town. These programmes use the power of sport to engage with people and help them on their journey of life in areas of health, inclusion, education and disability.
BWCT Makes A Difference
Engaging with thousands of people over the year, the programmes have had massive impact including reducing crime rates in communities, increasing health benefits, preventing social isolation, improving mental health and providing pathways for people to volunteer and go on into work as their confidence has increased.
Individuals tell moving stories of the impact that the Trust has had on their lives and the changes they have been able to make as a consequence of being a participant on one of the programmes.
We recognise that our football club is nothing without its supporters and community and it is great to see the wonderful work that the Community Trust is doing out there and making a difference to people’s lives.
Strengthening Links
Our partnership will strengthen the message of this work out in the community and give fans more opportunities to support this work through engaging and promoting the activities of the Community Trust, volunteering, and helping to raise the vital funds for their work.
In their 30th Anniversary year, BWFCST are getting behind BWCT all the way as they are committed to raising £30K through a series of events and sponsored activities that we shall promote.
Friendly Rivalry!
The announcement of the Legends Game on 14th May 2016, when BWFCST’s #TeamMcGinlay will take on BWCT’s #TeamKelly, cements the partnership and makes a great start in celebrating all that is great about our Football Club.
Moving Forwards
We are delighted that with ourselves and our two partners in the BWDA and BWCT, we are collectively developing a strong and growing team to engage with supporters and the wider community and make a difference for our Club and town.
