The reach of BWFCST knows no boundaries as it welcomed one member from the USA following Saturday's match against Hull. Lifelong fan, Mark Johnson from Columbia, South Carolina attended his first ever home match this weekend and was lucky enough to see his beloved team win the game.
His attachment to Bolton Wanderers was formed early when his father would return from business trips to the North West with football paraphernalia from BWFC. His commitment to the team has continued to this day and when he and his wife were planning a trip to Ireland to mark their 25th wedding anniversary, Mark was keen to incorporate a visit to see the Wanderers in action and luckily his wife agreed.
Maggie Tetlow and Mike Smith (two of the Trust's Steering Group) met up with the happy couple after the game in the Whites Hotel and swapped stories of happier times following the Wanderers. Having said that, with the beaming smile on Mark's face, it would take something special to eclipse his first ever trip to the Macron and seeing the Whites win for the first time on home turf.
After a good hour reminiscing and a couple of drinks, we waved goodbye to Mr and Mrs Johnson but left them with a clear goal to sign up as many members as possible in Columbia, South Carolina..
It just goes to show... no matter where you are in the world, the trust and the love of bwfc will bring you home
