The Bolton Wanders Supporters’ Trust is proud to announce that lifelong Bolton fan Poppy Haslam has become our Young Ambassador.
Josh Douglas-Walton from HFE, a fitness training provider and NVQ assessor originally got in touch with us to share the news of Poppy Haslam, an apprentice from Bolton (and huge Bolton Wanderers fan) who is celebrating tremendous apprenticeship success.
Over the past 12 months, Poppy has worked incredibly hard and has recently completed her apprenticeship in Activity Leadership at Bolton Wanderers Community Trust, gaining several football coaching qualifications in the process.
During this time she has been involved in some high profile football projects, including Premier League Girls, an initiative designed to help more girls get into football. Poppy has also been involved in numerous fundraising events for Bolton Wanderers Community Trust as they celebrated their 30th anniversary this year.
Everyone at HFE and BWCT are incredibly proud of her achievements, particularly with the projects she’s worked on which encourage more girls to get into sport. With so much uncertainty regarding apprenticeships at the moment, Poppy's achievements are a great reminder of the real opportunities for success they can afford young people.
Poppy is now hoping to gain her UEFA B Licence, a path that could eventually lead her to coaching in the professional game.
Paul Makinson, Head of School Partnerships at BWCT, said: "During her time at BWCT Poppy has progressed from an apprentice into a full-time, employed member of staff. Her attitude and work ethic have always been extremely positive and played an important role in securing her current position within the Trust."
Echoing the praise from BWCT is Poppy's NVQ Apprenticeship Tutor Gregg Travers, himself a lifelong Bolton Wanderers fan, has said:
“Over the past 12 months Poppy has been a fantastic apprentice to work with. She always turned up to our visits on time; went above and beyond what I had asked her to complete and the work which she submitted was of a brilliant standard. Poppy has grown in confidence over the past 12 months which has been a pleasure to see; she has taken control of different projects; managing and coaching the girls football team at Bolton College being just one of them. Poppy has a bright future ahead of her and I have no doubt in saying that she will make a fantastic coach for BWCT. Well done Poppy.”
We are all part of the 'BWFC Family' so all of us here at the BWFCST were very quick to send our congratulations to Poppy and a big well done for all her hard work.
We are very proud to have you as our Young Ambassador!
